The invite marks an important point in the uprise for the Academy team, as it’s the biggest and most prestigious invite they have ever received in the organisation’s history. With the team already having started treading the international scene, and with Hungarian pakesZ joining them as coach, getting a chance to play in a tournament of this caliber is undoubtedly of immense importance.
Not only was Metizport handed an invite – due to being rank #100 on HLTV at the time, they were also awarded a spot directly in the Swiss stage, allowing them to skip the Closed Qualifier stage where 16 teams fought for top 8 in order to proceed to the main competition.
The tournament features many interesting teams such as Alliance, Astralis Academy and Endpoint, as well as several squads from the Closed Qualifier that Metizport X have previously battled in other tournaments – Lilmix, Preasy Esports and Royals.
Esports Coordinator Jakob “DEFENSE” Jansson, who has been working closely with the team since October, shares a few words about the invite:
“It’s a very impactful invite for the boys. They’ve been given such a great opportunity at growing on the international scene this year, both with invites and with the support of a coach, and this is exactly what we need – to get right into the action and prove what we’re capable of all the while gaining invalauble experience.”
