The first day of Frag Blocktober 2025 saw Metizport ease past three out of four opponents in the Group Stage and the first round of Playoffs. If you missed it, you can read more about it here.
Just our luck! But we were then given the best seeded team in the entire tournament as our next opponent – fnatic. Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson and his men held their heads high though, and put up a real fight against European team on the two maps of Overpass and Ancient. Despite a close match, especially on the first map, Metizport were unable to run away with the victory – 13-10 on Overpass and 13-7 on Ancient. And with the Playoffs (top 16) phase of the tournament using a Single-Elimination format, the defeat versus fnatic knocked us out of the tournament.
We had hoped for more, but the run in Philadelphia still showed promising signs of improvement in the team and its structure. With about a month’s break until the next offline event, JOURNEY 2025 in Åre, Sweden, we’ll use the time to evaluate and come back as a stronger force.
The good news is… We’ve released a 14-minute vlog from the stay in USA, where you can get a lot more insight in how a normal offline tournament looks like for professional esports athletes. It follows all the players, Head Coach Ahmed “abdi” Abdi, Assistant Coach Miguel “ner0” Videira, as well as our CEO Arjan Sydhagen Dalsøren as they flew overseas to represent Metizport in North America.
