This afternoon the Grand Final of €11,000 Tipsport Open Cup in Prague kicked off between Metizport’s Counter-Strike team and Inner Circle Academy, an underdog team whom had performed a miraculous Lower-Bracket run after losing their opening match in the Playoffs stage.
Youngster Liam “MaiL09” Tügel and the rest of the boys had gone undefeated through the tournament up until the Grand Finals, beating Optibet 2-1 in the UB Quarterfinals, HAVU 2-1 in the UB Semifinals, and in the UB Finals, aimclub with a third consecutive 2-1 victory.
In the Grand Finals, however, MaiL09 made sure the first map of the final match in the tournament went to Metizport, finishing Anubis on top of the scoreboard with a 1.41 rating. The map finished 13-9, and just like that the squad was only one map away from securing the trophy.

And it would come to be proven that the boys only needed two maps to close out the series, as on the second map of Nuke, with strong performances from everyone in the team and David “forsyy” Bílý winning an all-so-important one-versus-one situation in the final round, Metizport Epicbet sealed the deal with another 13-9 victory.
With a 2-0 win, our Czech 24-year-old AWPer got to raise another trophy in his country in front of a delighted home crowd. Winning Tipsport Open Cup awards Metizport €6,000 as well as some highly important points for the global ranking – the team has now popped the top-50 bubble, currently sitting comfortably on 49th in the world.
Now an evening of celebration awaits before it’s time to fly back home tomorrow and recover. The next scheduled tournament for the boys will be the Closed Qualifier for 1win Private Club #2, which commences on October 7th. Thanks to everyone who cheered us on here in Prague – we truly appreciate it!
