As of yesterday it is official that our Swedish-Norwegian Academy squad, Metizport X, will continue with us in 2025.
Having been a core for around half a year, the team has already raised eyebrows in various online tournaments and, not to be forgotten, the LAN-finals for GoodGame-Ligaen Fall 2024, where in-game leader Emil “ZapR” Marcussen led his men to victory, securing their title as the best team in Norway.
However, as 2025 shines its bright light on us and, being merely two weeks into the new year, the boys in Metizport X have already received invites to four different tournaments, two of which is a caliber above the competition they found themselves in last year. The Main division of United21 as well as a spot in the European Pro League’s second division shows the external interest in our Academy investment has grown over the past months.
“I’m excited to continue building with this roster” – ZapR
In addition to these two leagues, the team has been given spots in SGL Season 4 and the $10,000 Justice Cup, which is now on its third volume having systematically climbed the prestige stairs with each cup.
Even more so, there are more tournaments waiting ahead. With a tight schedule and the tryout period for our newest addition to the squad – a Head Coach – having started, we sincerely hope to see Metizport X continue climbing the ladder in 2025 and reach the next tier in competitive Counter-Strike.
Morten Vollan Christensen, “zEVES”, Sports Director of Metizport, had this to say:
“Really excited to have this team with us going into 2025. The team will be shifting some of its priorities, focusing more on gaining international experience. Developing talent is important for our competitive sports model, and showing continuity in the project. They did super well last season. Now, it’s about seeing the progression this season with a new coach coming in.”
With contracts signed and confirmed, the Metizport X squad will look as follows:
Emil “ZapR” Marcussen
Jonathan “zame” Nyhagen
August “Straxy” Canavan
Max “Kronkzz” Gustafsson
Marcus “macke” Hermundstad
