The invite was received merely a day before tournament start, but the Academy team led by Emil “ZapR” Marcussen refused to let the opportunity go and accepted, managing to land themselves in Group C alongside teams like Adventurers, Lazer Cats and Permitta Esports, which also gave the Swedish-Norwegian squad a couple of days to prepare.
The $10,000 tournament runs from the 9th (with Metizport X starting their run today) to the 26th of February, and features 16 teams. Some other notable teams also attending include Swedish Johnny Speeds and Lilmix, as well as the Academy teams of Astralis and G2.
The tournament format is the same as last time – four groups of four teams, where top 2 make it to the Double-Elimination Playoffs.
Metizport X is playing their opener as we speak, over at EPL’s Twitch channel versus Adventurers, a team featuring names such as hAdji, Woro2k and ex-NiP player maxster.
