Our Valorant team fought their way through the 8-team Invitational LAN and beat Formulation Gaming 2-0 in the Grand Final.
Mathias “SEIDER” Seider’s men had a rough start in Jönköping on Day 1, losing the opening game versus Formulation Gaming with a 7-13 scoreline, putting themselves on the brink of elimination immediately. With an unforgiving best-of-one format and only three matches to play in the Group Stage, the Dane – with the help of Head Coach Tobias “ShadoW” Flodström – understood the mission and rallied his men for the remaining two matches against LEO Esports and Lilmix, clinching the win in both of them, 13-9 and 13-9.
With a 2-1 finish in the group, Metizport were able to secure the second spot under Formulation Gaming, who had gone 3-0 in the same group. With only four teams remaining in the tournament – Metizport, Formulation Gaming, HAVU and Bitfix Gaming – Metizport took some well needed rest after a stressful day and came back stronger on the second day of the tournament. In the semi-finals against Bitfix Gaming the European squad was able to secure a 2-1 victory against the fellow Norwegian organisation, thus standing ready for the Grand Final later the same day, which happened to be against Formulation Gaming – it was time for revenge.
In the Grand Final it became clear who was the better team. With a clear strategy by In-Game leader SEIDER and coach ShadoW, the two led the team to a 2-0 scoop on the battlefield, sweeping the opposition aside in a 13-9 fashion in both maps. With the win, Metizport secured 40,000 SEK (~$4,206) check and a well-needed boost after a not-so-good performance in Stage 2 of Challengers, as well as high spirits for the bootcamp the team will be undergoing at Alliance’s headquarters in Göteborg until Sunday the 22nd of June.
