Metizport secure spot in Major Regional Qualifier

We have written history! For the first time since the forming of the organisation, Metizport will have a chance to make it to a Counter-Strike Major, as we will partake in the European Regional Qualifier of the $1,25M tournament in Austin this summer.

26 teams in total from the European ranking will be competing around the Major in some capacity. Teams ranked 1st to 6th in the European VRS ranking make it directly to Stage 3 of the Major, 7th to 10th make it to Stage 2, and 11th-27th make it to the “MRQ” (Major Regional Qualifier) where 16 teams will battle online for 6 spots in the LAN event in the United States.

Metizport made it well into the vicinities of the MRQ when they had a dream performance in both PGL Astana 2025 European Qualifier and Galaxy Battle 2025 Starter, winning eight consecutive tournament matches and reaching a peak rank of #20 in Europe. However, losing the Grand Finals in both tournaments and with a rough 2-3 finish in the Group Stage of YaLLa Compass Qatar 2025 Qualifier, the Swedish giants eventually fell down to the very bottom of the MRQ ranking – 27th. There, however, they managed to stay until yesterday, the 7th of April, when this month’s “cutoff” happened for the ranking, and so despite only making it by the skin of their teeth, the six-man squad could feel as relieved as any of the other 15 teams.

Our CEO, Arjan Sydhagen Dalsøren, shares a few words about the historical feat:

“This is a big milestone for Metizport, and we’re thrilled about it. It shows that we have what it takes to compete on this level. Now what remains is to deliver a great performance – if we do, it can have a massive positive impact on the organisation.”

Metizport join teams such as Astralis, fnatic, OG, ENCE and GamerLegion in a thrilling 16-team showdown which starts on April 14th. Join us on this journey, and let’s celebrate us making history together!
