It was an early start of the day for the Counter-Strike team in Oslo, with preparations starting already at 8 in the morning and the first match of the tournament commencing at 10:00 AM. Metizport was placed in group A in the 14-team tournament together with Swedish Lilmix Esports and Norwegian Infurity Gaming, making them the first teams to kickstart the LAN tournament inside Thon Hotel Oslo Airport’s venue.
In order to proceed directly to the next day, Metizport had to win both Group Stage matches. If one or two matches were lost, an additional “knockout” game would have to be played later today. But thanks to a clear game plan from the coaching staff and great individual performances from the players, both matches were won with ease.
In the first match versus Lilmix Esports, Overpass became the map of the clash and Metizport started on the CT-side. Isak “isak” Fahlén shone right from the very start and pushed the team to a confident 9-3 finish in half-time. Winning the pistol round on the T-side, it was only a matter of stringing together the remaining three rounds and Metizport ran away with a 13-5 victory.
Versus the Norwegians in Infurity Gaming, it was even more one-sided. The match was played out on Nuke and Metizport once again began on the CT-side, plucking down the attacking side round after round and finishing 10-2 in half-time. The two rounds that Infurity Gaming had managed to scramble together on the attacking side was all they were given – Metizport wasted no time and won the remaining three rounds to finish the match 13-2, with great individual performances from Jackinho and Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora.
Thanks to going 2-0 in the Group Stage, Metizport is already locked in for top 8 and the quarterfinals tomorrow and will have plenty of time to prepare as most of the other teams play their knockout games later tonight. The quarterfinal match is set to start at 10:00 CET tomorrow, February 21st. We don’t know the opponent yet, but stay updated on the “Matches” tab here on the website to see who we’re facing off against.
