Only one more match remains for Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz and the boys to raise the trophy at HyperX Retake Season 13, as he has led his team to another crucial victory in Lisbon. In the semifinals of the tournament, JiJieHao, ranked 29th in the world, stood in the way of the Grand Finals. But despite the large difference in global ranking, the Canadian captain kept cool and topped the scoreboard at the end of the series when Metizport just narrowly inched past their opposition in two maps (16-14, 19-17).
On the first map, Inferno, the two teams fought tooth and nail all the way – two identical 6-6 halftimes, and an additional 4-2 overtime in favor of Metizport to finally close out the map. stanislaw had a superb performance, ending Inferno with 1.59 rating, closely followed by David “forsyy” Bílý with 1.33.
On Map 2 of Mirage, it was an incredibly even performance from everyone in the squad. Despite a strong 8-4 halftime on the defending side and a quick conversion to 11-5, JiJieHao then put an end to the flow and started mounting a comeback. Metizport Epicbet were unable to hold them back but at least managed to clinch one more round to take the game to 12-12, and in overtime the two teams traded round after round until our squad were finally able to put themselves in a favorable position as attackers, finishing the map 19-17 and throwing JiJieHao down into the Consolidation Final.
Meanwhile, the other semifinal between Iberian Soul and WBT Academy is just starting. Iberian Soul are heavy favorites in the series and the team expected to go through to the Grand Finals, which will be played at 20:00 CET tonight.
