As 2026 is closing in with new opportunities and challenges, and after thorough discussions with abdi, we have mutually agreed that this is the right time for the 34-year-old to take the next step in his career and look for new opportunities, leaving space for someone else to lead the forefront of Metizport into the new year.
This is not our final goodbye. We will cherish the last time we have with Abdi flying Metizport’s flag, hoping to fill our cabinet with some more experiences before December. And speaking about experiences… Let’s look back on our time together, shall we?
Abdi is the longest standing member in the Counter-Strike roster, having been part of the organisation since September 2023 when Metizport signed their first full-Swedish investment. Under the Swede’s leadership the team became National Champions in 2024, finished 4th in IESF World Championship 2024, and most importantly qualified to a Counter-Strike Major in 2025, making history as the first fully Swedish roster to attend one since 2019. In total, abdi helped bring in over $103,000 in prize money during his venture with Metizport.

All in all it has been a hell of a ride. Abdi has led several different line-ups through thick and thin with passion, humbleness and professionalism, never giving up and always keeping a high spirit.
We are aiming towards making the Swede’s departure in December as smooth as possible, both for himself and for the team, and have already begun the work of finding a new Head Coach to take abdi’s place for next year. In the meantime, operations continue as normal. The Counter-Strike team has four more tournaments before abdi’s contract is set to expire – Winline Insight Season 9 as well as LAN events JOURNEY 2025, Svenska Cupen 2025 and DreamHack Knockout 2025.
Metizport’s Sports Director, Morten Vollan Christensen, had this to say:
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Abdi since the summer of 2023. Over these past two years, we’ve built a close working relationship and achieved some truly great things together. Abdi took a leap of faith by joining what was then a relatively unknown organization, and through his dedication and effort, he played a key role in putting Metizport on the international map.
As his contract comes to an end, we’ve mutually agreed that it’s time for both of us to move forward on separate paths, to continue growing and pursuing our individual ambitions. I’m incredibly thankful for everything we’ve accomplished together and wish him all the best in his next chapter.”
Abdi also shares his thoughts:
“Having spent over two years with Metizport, I’ve had time to reflect and feel ready to take on a new challenge. I’m deeply grateful for everything we’ve achieved together and want to thank everyone at Metizport staff, current and former players, and our amazing fans for their trust, support, and all the great memories along the way.”
