Talk about falling on the finishing line… In yesterday’s Grand Finals of HyperX Retake Season 13 we faced off against WBT Academy in a thrilling best-of-three series. After having beaten both BC Game Esports and JiJieHao, matchups that we went into as underdogs, we felt confident that the trophy was going to get raised at the end of the Sunday evening.
However, the Ukranian opposition put up a real fight. After dominating us on the first map of Anubis with a 13-4 scoreline, we bounced back on Cache with a 13-6 result, and it was all going to come down to Mirage. Despite a good 6-3 start initially, it was then converted to 6-6 by WBT and once the teams switched sides, Metizport Epicbet were only able to secure a single round and lost the map 7-13.
This means we lost the final match of the tournament and have to make do with a silver medal in Lisbon. Still, the team’s performance in Portugal looked very promising and there’s certainly a lot to continue building on. As November has arrived, the team is standing before their last two months before the winter break. The next scheduled tournament will be $25,000 CCT 2026 Europe #13 starting on November 13, where we will start from the Playoffs.
In total, we climbed 13 spots on the global ranking from our adventure in the Portuguese capital, taking home over a little over $3,400 in prize money as well. We want to thank everyone who cheered us on throughout the weekend. See you again soon!
