Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz and the boys started off the day in Lisbon with a 19-16 victory versus Ukranian SNITKO in the opening best-of-one matchup. It was a very even effort between everyone in the team, but Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora stood on top as the 19th round on the board was secured for Metizport Epicbet in overtime. The Swede finished the match with a 1.23 rating.
In the Winner’s match, a much tougher opponent waited in BC Game Esports. Initially, it looked like the series was going to slip out of the team’s hands not long after it had started, with the first map of Nuke, Metizport Epicbet’s map pick, ending 3-13. However on the remaining two maps, Head Coach Vincent “vinS” Jozefiak rallied his men, reset the emotions, and went into the second map of Mirage as a new team.
Despite being BC Game Esports’s map pick, David “forsyy” Bíly – with a stunning 1.59 rating at match end – led his team to a clean victory of 13-9 to equalize the score in the series. It was all going to come down to Ancient, where statistically Metizport Epicbet had a better winrate of 77% compared to BC Game Esport’s 33%.
On Ancient it was Maciej “F1KU” Miklas’s turn to take over the wheel, and with his 1.70 rating on the map he topped the scoreboard as our Counter-Strike team made light work of s1mple and company. 8-4 in halftime, and 13-6 was the final score for our boys. With this 2-1 victory, we had come out of our group as first place, cementing our place in the Playoffs of the Portuguese tournament.
Not shortly after we were also met with the news that our quarterfinals opponent, TYLOO, had been forced to forfeit their match to prioritize a much bigger tournament in Beijing starting in just a few days. This means that we get a free ticket straight to the semifinals tomorrow November 1st, allowing the team to take it easy and properly prepare for their next challenge after a long and hard-fought day yesterday.
Thanks to everyone who cheered for us. On our livestreams together with Komplett.no, we had thousands of viewers watching us live. We really appreciate it, and we’re happy that we could share such an important victory yesterday together with you all. Onwards!
