Yesterday Metizport Epicbet stood victorious in the Upper Bracket Finals of €11,000 Tipsport Open Cup in Prague after beating Romanian aimclub 2-1. Before that, they had secured another two wins in the Quarterfinals and Upper Bracket Semifinals on their opening day in the 12-team tournament.
This Friday Metizport Epicbet arrived at the PLAYZONE venue in Prague, ready to kick off their tournament run as the highest seeded team in the competition. The opening match versus Optibet may have started rather slow on Ancient, with the opponents running away with the map, but Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz calmed his men down and led them to two comfortable victories in the remaining two maps to take home the series 2-1.
In the Upper Bracket Semifinals Finnish HAVU waited, and it was the same ordeal there. Our boys lost the first map, but then turned the ship around and took the remaining two maps needed to advance further in the Czech LAN tournament. Once again, 2-1 was the final score.
Then yesterday evening, the team played the Romanian team aimclub for a spot in the Grand Finals. This time it was the other way around – Metizport Epicbet took the first map with ease, then aimclub bounced back on the second map, and finally stanislaw & co. said ‘enough is enough’ and set the standard for the third and final map of Ancient – 10-2 in halftime, and a comfortable 13-7 victory to finalize the series.
Now the team is calmly waiting in the Grand Finals for the Lower Bracket Final against aimclub and Inner Circle Academy, the winner of which will face off against us at 16:00 CEST today for the gold medal and €6,000 in prize money.
