Metizport through to top 16 in Philadelphia after packed first day
October 4, 2025

The Counter-Strike team started their journey through $10,000 Frag Blocktober 2025 yesterday. After an action-packed day with four best-of-threes, they were through to top 16.

L00m1, isak, Plopski, MaiL09 and Captain Jackinho, as well as Head Coach abdi and Assistant Coach ner0 had an early start yesterday, checking in early to the venue of Frag Blocktober 2025, an international Counter-Strike tournament in Philadelphia, USA. The first match against “Wicked”, an American mix-team, commenced at 10 in the morning and saw the boys in green take the match 2-0 (13-4 on Nuke, 13-9 on Overpass) to move on in their group.

isak clutched out a 1v2 at the 4-4 mark on Nuke against Wicked, which proved to be a major stick in the wheel for the opponents – they didn’t take a single round from there on

Next up was none other than 9INE, ranked 28th in the world, and the clash took place on the maps Overpass, Inferno and Nuke. Metizport were able to run away with the first map by the skin of their teeth – 13-11 – after mounting a nice comeback from 7-11 down. On inferno 9INE were able to build a lead early on and Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson and co. failed to get a foot in the door, the map finishing 8-13 in the end.

With the score equalized, it was all going to come down to Nuke. Despite a rather weak first half by Metizport, finishing 5-7, they were able to win the pistol round and string together a good defense on the CT-side, eventually finding themselves on the brink of victory with 10-8. However, despite being on the defending side – the most favored side of the map – 9INE found an opening and managed to steal the last five rounds for victory, running away with the 2-1 result and securing their spot in top 16 of the tournament.

Jackinho had a great performance on Nuke against 9INE, acing against an incoming ramp-rush to equalize the score to 8-8

Metizport was now in a all-or-nothing situation, having to win two more best-of-threes on top of the already double series they had played the same day. Losing any match at this stage would mean elimination from the tournament. But no nerves seemed to kick in – the first match versus “Team Factor” ended 2-0 for Metizport, 13-3 on Dust2 and 13-4 on Overpass.

The last match of the stacked day in Philadelphia, the round 22-match, started half an hour later against Americans “Zomblers”. No time was wasted here either – Head Coach Ahmed “abdi” Abdi and Assistant Coach Miguel “ner0” Videira calmly observed as the team shoved aside the opposition with a 13-2 scoreline on Ancient and a 13-1 result on Overpass.

Assistant Coach Miguel “ner0” Videira could calmly watch as Metizport secured the last two matches needed for top 16

It’s at the top 16 mark that the real tournament starts, with every match counting towards the ranking and receiving more detailed coverage. Metizport will go up against the number one-seeded team in the entire tournament, fnatic, at 16:00 CEST today. Because this stage, the Playoffs stage, is Single-Elimination, the loser of the match is eliminated from the tournament.

Make sure to tune in and support the boys in a do-or-die matchup!
