Update on our VALORANT team
August 10, 2025
As part of our commitment to transparency and supporting our players’ careers, we want to update our community regarding recent developments within our VALORANT roster.

At the start of the season, it was clearly communicated to all five players and the Head Coach that should the team fail to qualify for Ascension, their contracts would conclude one month earlier than originally scheduled, specifically by the end of September instead of the end of October. This clause was thoughtfully included to allow both the organization and the players flexibility to plan ahead, rebuild the team, and pursue new opportunities without unnecessary delays.

However, following the conclusion of the qualification phase, four of our five players along with the Head Coach have mutually agreed with Metizport to terminate their contracts earlier than the adjusted end date. This mutual agreement releases them from all contractual obligations with Metizport, enabling them to freely explore new opportunities, trials, or career paths.

One remaining player, Mathias “SEIDER” Seider has chosen to remain with the organization on the bench through August and September. We welcome any teams interested in trialing or transferring this player to reach out directly to our Sports Director, Morten, at morten@metizport.com.

SEIDER will remain on the bench

For the individuals leaving the organization, we want to say a huge THANK YOU. It has been a pleasure working with you all, and we wish you massive luck in the future regardless of which path you take. We are thoroughly impressed by your hard work, and your effort will always be remembered even though in the end, you didn’t reach your end goal of Ascension. The team, under the lead of SEIDER, most notably finished 4th in Stage 1 of VCL 2025 NORTH//EAST, top 6 in Stage 3, and won Glitched Invitational 2025 in Jönköping. During their tenure with Metizport they earned over $5,800 in prize money and represented the team with dignity and professionalism.

In Jönköping, the team fought through the whole 100,000 SEK tournament and beat Formulation Gaming in a confident fashion in the Grand Finals, putting up a show for hundreds of viewers both on-site and online. The gold medal in Jönköping is an important achievement for Metizport as an organization and we are happy to have shared that moment with the players. After the victory in Sweden, the team went on a one-week bootcamp in Göteborg to build up a stronger foundation for the last stage of VCL 2025. Even though they didn’t make it to the top 4 mark in the end (which would have secured a spot in Challengers EMEA), they showed incredible composure from start to finish. The European squad started off in the Lower Swiss Phase after having bombed out early the Stage before, a Phase from which they had to proceed in order to keep Metizport’s spot in VALORANT Challengers. Despite a rather dire-looking 1-2 situation initially, only one loss away from getting relegated, SEIDER and his men turned the steak over, won the remaining two matches, and made it to the Upper Swiss, securing the league spot for the organization next year. But they weren’t done there – they kept going, winning three matches with ease and thus punching in their ticket to the Playoffs and top 8 in the €15,000 tournament. In the Playoffs, they managed to win one more match – securing top 6 – before falling in a tight best-of-three series to Team Liquid Academy and getting eliminated from the tournament.

Despite everyone involved in the project having hoped for better results overall, the positive impact these players made in the organization will always be visible. Things don’t always go your way, but none of them ever gave up and did everything they could to make things work – in the end, that’s all we could have asked for. A chapter ends today, but where one ends, hopefully another begins.

We would also like to squeeze in a thanks to Burak “burzzy” Özveren, who was originally part of the five-man squad announced as our 2025 VALORANT investment in January. Özveren spent around four months in the team and helped take the crew to the top 4 finish in the first stage of VCL 2025. While things didn’t work out internally in the team with the 21-year-old, we want to direct our gratitude his way as well. He was later sold to Fire Flux Esports, where he has found his new home in a fully Turkish team.

This is a pivotal moment for Metizport as we reflect on the future of our VALORANT division. While the Nordic VCL scene came with high hopes and announcements of growth, progress has unfortunately fallen short of those expectations. The current landscape remains far from sustainable, and with a very narrow threshold to qualify for VCT, significant changes are clearly needed. As a result, we must carefully reassess our investments and strategic direction to determine whether Metizport will continue to invest in building within this competitive environment.
