Metizport secure Playoffs in VALORANT Challengers 2025
July 21, 2025
After a nailbiter matchup yesterday versus deti ulice, ultimately going in the favor of Metizport, the VALORANT squad has secured Playoffs and top 8 in the €15,000 tournament.
In the Upper Swiss Phase of VCL 2025, the team had a dream start in the best-of-one matchups, taking down both Bitfix Gaming and Enterprise Esports with ease. Finding themselves in the 2-0 group together with Formulation Gaming, Twisted Saints Esports and FULL BOX 200, Team Captain SEIDER led his men into the first best-of-three matchup against FULL BOX 200, a match that unfortunately slipped out of their hands.
However, the day after the 0-2 loss in the 2-1 group, Metizport had recovered and went into the next matchup against another mix team, deti ulice, in what was to become a thrilling series going down to the wire. On the first map, Haven, our European crew had a walk in the park – the match ended 13-6. And even better, it was the opponent’s map pick.
On the second map of Icebox, which was Metizport’s pick, the two teams clashed more evenly and the first half ended 6-6. Metizport won the pistol round, securing an 8-6 scoreline, but deti ulice managed to come back and equalize the score to 9-9 and then ran away with three quick rounds, securing map point. However, Metizport managed to string together three rounds and took the game to overtime, and from there it continued back and forth for quite some time… Despite individual performances from several individuals in the team, such as Mathias “SEIDER” Seider winning a 1v2 afterplant at 14-15 to force another overtime, the match eventually slipped out of our team’s hands, losing the map with a final score of 15-17.
It was all going to come down to the final map, Ascent. Metizport started on the attacking side and immediately set the pace as they ran away with 7 rounds early on, decimating the defending side of deti ulice. However, the opponents found the groove after a 1v3 post-plant victory and stole the last three rounds after being down 2-7, ending the half 5-7. In the second half it was another back-and-forth match, with one team stringing together a couple of rounds only for the other team to turn the tables and do the same. Ultimately, however, Metizport was one round away from losing the entire series as deti ulice had 12 rounds to Metizport’s 10.
But after a tactical timeout called by Head Coach Tobias “ShadoW” Flodström, the European roster successfully held the defenses together and pulled off yet another overtime, equalizing the score to 12-12. And at last, with great composure and teamplay, Metizport methodically plucked down the deti ulice players one by one on the attacking round, with Ross “aNguiSt” Pendleton securing the last kill with only ten seconds left of the timer, with no spike planted. On the defending side Elric “juseu” Belland stepped up tremendously and put a major stick in the wheel of deti ulice, finding two entry frags early on outside the B-site, which gave Metizport enough of an advantage to slowly but surely find the remaining three frags to win the whole match-up.
juseu ended the last map with 29 frags
With the team securing their third win in the Upper Swiss Phase of VCL 2025 NORTH//EAST, they become one of the eight teams that will show up in the Playoffs next weekend, where the remaining teams will battle for four spots in Challengers EMEA and a share of the €15,000 prize pool. Metizport’s opponents are not yet announced, but we can already tell some of the teams that will appear in the Playoffs bracket – Formulation Gaming, FULL BOX 200 and Pixel Lumina. Stay updated on the “Matches” tab as the weekend gets closer to not miss any of the matches!
