Counter-Strike team to appear in second debut tournament tonight
July 16, 2025
Last weekend Metizport’s Counter-Strike team, led by newly acquired In-game leader Jackinho, played their debut tournament. Today, they appear on the server again in a different competition.

It was last Saturday that Liam “MaiL09” Tügel and Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson’s debut in Metizport happened, when the team attended The Proving Grounds Season 2. The squad had received a direct invite to the Playoffs stage due to being one of the highest ranked teams to accept the invite, and started off strong in the first round against Kazakhstani team NOVAQ, beating them 2-0 on Mirage and Dust2. In the following game, the quarterfinals, the all-Swedish crew fell short against Ukranians Passion UA, getting eliminated from the tournament. Still, a top 8 finish and €2,500 richer is not a bad debut for our newest investment in the world of Counter-Strike.

The team was allowed to lick their wounds for a couple of days, since today it’s time to appear in a new tournament – $20,000 Whale.io Cup. In this competition Ahmed “abdi” Abdi and his party begins in the Group Stage, where they have been put together with NiP Impact, RUBY and Partizan Esports. With all matches featuring a best-of-three format, there is a possibility of several interesting games the following days.

With the team’s current situation in the VRS ranking, we are generally very open to attending any tournament they get invited to in order to gather as much points as possible and climb into a more comfortable position in the ranks. Metizport has also received invites to two other tournaments as we speak, with YaLLa Compass Contenders #2 with $25,000 in prize money being one of them. With a newly formed squad hungry to compete, you can expect to see a lot of online attendances going forward!

Metizport’s opener in Whale.io Cup versus NiP Impact initiates today at 17:00 CEST and will be streamed here. For Swedish viewers, you can also watch it here.
