Metizport acquire Swedish prodigy MaiL09
July 9, 2025
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have acquired 16-year-old Liam “MaiL09” Tügel from the Swedish organization Johnny Speeds, securing one of the most prominent talents in Europe into our own ranks.

Tügel began his Counter-Strike career in 2021 at the age of 12, securing a third place finish in DreamHack Winter 2021’s BYOC tournament with Goodfellas Evolution. About a year and a half later, MaiL09 was picked up by GODSENT’s Academy project Young Gods, where he spent another year before the team was promoted to GODSENT’s main roster. After a six-month stint there, MaiL09 began playing with Johnny Speeds in January 2025, an organisation in which Tügel has spent an eventful time until today, as he officially transfers to Metizport.

The successful buyout of MaiL09 is certainly a highlight of 2025, right up there with making it to the Austin Major back in April. The amount of eyes on Liam is astounding, with the 16-year-old Swede having already made a mark on the international online scene – especially since the start of 2025 – boasting several top 1, top 2 and top 3 finishes in prominent online tournaments. In Liam’s rather short stint with Johnny Speeds, he helped the team secure over $46,000 in prize money, most notably finishing 3rd in Elisa Nordic Championship 2025 and 1st in Svenska Elitserien Spring 2025.

It was not an easy process nudging such a talent over to our side of the line. And understandably so! But we had a vision that we really believed in, and we were committed to making the transfer happen. After a hefty period of negotiating by our Sports Director Morten “zEVES” Christensen, we were finally able to reach an agreement with the opposing entity, and we are ecstatic about having Liam under the Metizport banner – right in time for the fall season. We hope MaiL09 can help us get back into the higher vicinities of the VRS ranking that we slipped away from before the Major, and with a continued groove around a fully-Swedish line-up as well as an additional assistance from our new Assistant Coach Miguel “ner0” Videira, we whole-heartedly believe our roster, with the last member of the line-up seeing the light of the day shortly after this post, can make a massive impact on the international Counter-Strike scene. We have high standards in Metizport, and visions other Nordic organizations could only dream of setting for themselves. We believe that shows with this acquisition.
